Vermont Tech Student Captures Third-place Finish at TMC Futuretech Competition
Randolph Center, VT (10/02/2018) — Cody Bryan from North Clarendon, VT finished third overall in the 2018 edition of the TMC Futuretech National Student Technician Competition held in Orlando Florida September 17th and 18th. Futruretech is a competition for post-secondary student technicians held by the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association during their annual fall meeting. In a field of 33 contestants, Cody also won one skill station. Cody, a VAST graduate and a second year Diesel technology student, received a new tool storage unit and many other prizes worth approximately $5,000. A second VTC student, Isaac Miles from Acton ME placed 21st in the contest. For one week in August, Bryan was one of 10 student technicians, out of 40 applicants, who attended an all-expense paid preparatory Boot Camp in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cody had the opportunity to hone his skills with some of the best heavy duty truck technicians in the country. Bryan and five other student technicians were selected to compete with the FedEx team in Orlando.
The Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association is the country's largest organization devoted to the technical side of the trucking industry. These contests involve both written and skills tests of the contestants' diagnostic and repair abilities. Professional technicians compete in the Supertech Contest. This year 96 finalists competed in Supertech and 33 finalists competed in Futuretech. The FedEx Freight team won Supertech competition for a sixth straight year
