Vermont Tech Receives National Accreditation for Nursing Programs
Randolph Center, VT (04/29/2020) — The Vermont Technical College Nursing programs, Practical Nursing Certificate (PN), Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) programs have earned six-year program accreditation by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
The NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners' decision to grant accreditation was based on review of the program's self-study report, on-site program evaluation team report, the NLN CNEA Program Review Committee's report and the determination that the program complies with the NLN CNEA Standards of Accreditation.
The college's nursing programs have been accredited in the following areas: Practical Nursing-system-wide (distance education), Associate Degree in Nursing-system-wide (distance education), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN, distance education) since 2015 by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This recent move to NLN CNEA provides another level of review and reaffirms Vermont Tech's commitment to quality and innovative nursing education.

Receiving recognition from the NLN CNEA, is a reflection of our historically high NCLEX pass rates and high retention rates in the PN and ADN programs, as well as our diverse BSN curriculum. In challenging times like these, quality nursing and related health profession education is crucial in preparing graduates to work effectively during a public health crisis. Vermont Tech offers a career ladder progression approach for students to enter and advance in a nursing career. The career ladder approach is provided in a 1+1+2 model, which allows for the completion of the Practical Nursing (PN) certificate, followed by the completion of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) leading to eligibility for RN licensure, and culminating with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Qualified students may be accepted into Vermont Tech's Nursing program at any point (pre-PN, ADN, or BSN) and may progress through the bachelor's degree or choose to stop at the PN or ADN credentials.
